Hello there deviantART!
Before we start, please give this news article a so we can spread the word and spread the smiles.
Our contest journal will regularly be updated with more prizes and other important information, so please check there often.
I think, it is safe to agree that one of the saddest things in life revolves around watching a child fall ill, sometimes permanently. Perhaps you have never thought about it much but for parents and friends around them, to watch a young sole change from a happy person to one struggling to improve their health and in some cases, survive, can be the greatest hardship . And for the children themselves, the battle that they face as you can imagine, is none too cheerful.
Close to Christmas time, alwaysmotivated calls out to the community of deviantART through this contest. Let's use art to bring happiness to hospitalised children and give them something to smile about and remind them that life, no matter how tough, is worth living.
The hosptial that we have chosen to support through this contest is Sydney Children's Hospital in Sydney, Australia. For most of you, this won't be your local hospital. In fact, you have probably never heard of the hopsital before in your life. Don't let that stop you from sharing your art and your love though! Children around the world and across the globe are no different from those at home. All of them deserve a smile.
The idea is to gather as many artworks created from the heart as possible through this contest and deliver them to hospitalised children. After the contest has ended, alwaysmotivated will make prints of all the artworks (and print-outs of all the literature) created, slip them in envelopes and distribute them to the children at the hospital.
For the theme The Joys of Life, we are hoping to see artworks of a positive nature only. You could highlight something that you believe to be a joy in life or perhaps something exciting and inspiring. Humour is also welcomed, as long as it is not crude or offensive. The theme is still largely open to interpretation and we encourage creativity to a large extent but would like to emphasize that you should keep your artwork happy at all costs.
Contest Commences: November 20, 2010
Contest Deadline: December 24, 2010
Artworks of all media are accepted, including but not limited to traditional, digital, photography, literature and crafts.
All entries must be related to the theme, "The Joys of Life".
Maximum of three entires per deviant. We'd rather you put a lot of thought and effort into a few artworks, rather than create a dozen.
The deviation must be in your deviantART gallery at the time of submission.
The deviation can be newly created or from your deviantART gallery, as long as you believe that it relates to theme and will give a child something to smile about.
Please refrain from flaming, spamming or any other form of inapporpriate conducts directed towards other participants or the judges of the contest.
Strictly no mature content permitted. Please keep in mind that this contest is for children.
alwaysmotivated has the right to refuse any entries which they deem to be inappropriate for whatever reason (this reason will be given to you).

Updates in Progress
Sorry for the messy journal skin. All the coding around my page are WIPs at the moment. Hope to finish up everything soon but my work schedule is pretty packed.
Your Worst Nightmare is Back.
Yup. That's me. Did you think I was dead? Apparently you're not that lucky. :evillaugh:
But whew, breathing space please! Everything has changed. Give me a few days weeks to get comfy. Especially to the layout. Gosh I hate getting used to new things. Next to moulting cats, dead snakes and the smell of acetone. Yes. That much.
On a brighter note, I've read all of your comments from the past year. Thanks for all of them. (No really, thanks.) But I'm not going to be replying, because let admit it, if you get a reply to a comment you made 37 weeks ago, you're only going to be like, "WHO IS THIS UNKNOWN FIEND/MONSTER/GHOUL/UNDEAD THING?"

[Update] Still On Hiatus
Hey again everyone!
So, it's been a long, long time and it'll be almost another year yet before I can come back and be active again on deviantART, but just to let everyone know that I haven't left them, I thought I'd come back and post a little update. :)
Sorry to all the 2000+ comments and countless favourites and watches that I haven't been able to reply to or thank but if you're visiting, just letting you know that I will read every single one of your comments once I get back. Not kidding. I appreciate feedback on even my old works, because I'll definitely need some de-rusting once I pick up that paintbrush again. :giggle:
