Featured Deviants

September 2009 Featured Deviants :heart:

If you would like to be featured, please note me. Please remember that not all requests will be acccepted and that you must have at least 10 deviations in your gallery before I can accept. Thanks.
:iconraindropmemory:

:bulletblack: *Raindropmemory creates artworks with lovely colours that are sure to brighten anyone's day. Her extraordinary talents allows her to put together amazing pieces of detail as well as simple pieces from time to time. She creates many icon sets and wallpapers which are free to download and use for the deviantART community. She has also made a few tutorials to share her secrets, I urge you to look at them for they are extremely helpful.

:iconbakadeshoo:

:bulletblack: From awe-inspiring fractals to literature packed with powerful details, ~bakadeshoo is one seriously unique artist. Plus, he's a really cool friend to have and I just felt like featuring a male artist so I wasn't biased. But really, go look at his gallery, it's awesome!

Back Bigger and Better (and a thought)

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 4:16 AM

EDIT: So, I thought it'll just be an one day thing but after the 75 messages, the next day I got 115. I've decided to go through and reply with thank yous but the messages are kind of generic and I don't say much unless you've said something that replying with a thank you would not make sense... if that makes sense. ^^; Haha, yes. But even thought the messages are generic, I still mean it when I say it. Also, if anybody needs any support with the two journal skins in my gallery, I would be glad to help you out. :nod:

Wow umm. I'm kind of speechless at the number of messages I have in my inbox today. 75 in total. It's going to take me quite a while to get through them all I must say.

I've noticed a sudden influx in favourites (and collections) on my journal skins... probably due to the new offer of free journal skins. :giggle:

Thank you for all your support I guess but I guess this time I really don't have the time to reply to all your favourites. ^^;

Besides that, I don't really have much to say. But, have fun non-subscribers with your free journal skins. :D

So that I don't have to any more people down (because I really don't like doing it) my CSS requests are CLOSED. You can express your interest and be put on a waiting list for when my requests next open (and it won't be at least until Christmas I assure you) but I have no time for CSS at the moment. Please be understanding deviants, you always have been. ^^;

Thoughts

I don't think many people actually read my journals so I probably won't get many responses to this but I'm going to say this any way, because I've been curious.

We all know the issue with human trafficking and slavery I assume? Where in less privileged countries greedy people often take advantage of the poor and give them very consuming work at "pocket money" pay or lower? After doing the 40 Hour Famine this year (no talking) one of my friends warned me not to buy any jewelry made in one of these countries that looked 'hand-made'. The idea was that it would be act against this inhumane exploitation. It made quite a lot of sense at the time and I never stopped to think otherwise.

But today, another thought occurred to me. Despite the fact that their jobs are very poor and cruel, they at least right now have one. They have barely enough, go hungry for day but they're alive. If we stopped supporting the products they make, many would lose their jobs. In fact, probably a significant number before even the possibility of any change to the situation. Won't these people as a result starve to death?

So is it more correct to buy these kind of products and at least prevent them from losing the almost non-existent income they currently have or to ignore these products and in turn send the message that the world does not want exploited materials?

And I do indeed realise that issues like these should be treated on a national level instead of taking small action individually. But we need to take action individually as well. And as one small figure, what difference can we make? What is your opinion?

Don't forget Project: Always Motivated and our great contest! There are so many great prizes, so enter enter enter!

Project Comment

Are you a cartoon/comic artist?
Do you feel that your work is underappreciated?

In other words, do you submit to the Cartoons and Comics category often and find that most of your artworks are getting less than 5 contructive and/or original comments? So anything besides "cool" or "awesome" or "pretty" or "cute"? If not, note me now and I'll feature you in the next issue of *ProjectComment's news article.

And if you're not a cartoon/comic artist? No problem. Just head over to *ProjectComment and note them directly. They will answer back in due time and tell you whether your work has been featured or not.
